World Water Day is an international day designated by the United Nations in 1992 to raise awareness of the seriousness of water shortages and water pollution, and to emphasize the importance of water. The Ministry of Environment has set this year's World Water Day theme as 'Securing Water Resources for the Future in the Era of Climate Crisis.'

The ceremony will include commendations for contributors to the water sector and a commemorative address, followed by an expert seminar and purification activities. The seminar will discuss sustainable water use strategies, including water management in response to the climate crisis. Afterwards, a purification activity involving local governments, related organizations, and local businesses will take place at the Damyang Wetland in the upper reaches of the Yeongsangang River.

Kim Youngwoo, the head of the office, said, "The interest and participation of local governments, industries, and river basin members are essential to ensure that future generations can enjoy clean and safe water," and added, "On the occasion of World Water Day, let us remember that water is an asset to be passed down to our descendants, and strive through continuous cooperation so that all generations can enjoy clean water."
