Introduction of AI Sports Broadcasting Service in Public Sports Facilities
Pilot Operation at Two Facilities Including Tennis Court and Soccer Field
Seocho-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeon Seong-su) announced on the 19th that it will be the first autonomous district in Seoul to introduce and operate an ‘AI Sports Media Platform’ in public sports facilities, which uses artificial intelligence (AI) cameras to broadcast games and share sports activities.
The introduction of the ‘AI Sports Media Platform’ was prepared to help conveniently record and share sports activities. The district has completed the installation of AI sports cameras at two public sports facilities: Maehun Citizen’s Forest Tennis Court and Yangjae Neighborhood Park Soccer Field.
Videos filmed by these cameras can be watched live or replayed in real time via smartphones. Players can review their play videos to improve their performance, and spectators can enjoy desired games anytime and anywhere on their mobile devices. Additionally, for soccer, real-time live viewing and highlight creation from recorded videos are available, and analysis services for each sport will be upgraded sequentially.
Residents who wish to use the service can scan the QR code of the AI camera within the facility. Users can start and stop recording themselves, with a maximum recording time of up to 2 hours. Consent for portrait rights and copyrights is required when filming, and users can directly set the disclosure status to personal, club, or public.
This year, the district installed a total of four cameras for pilot operation: three at Maehun Citizen’s Forest Tennis Court and one at Yangjae Neighborhood Park Soccer Field. Based on the usage rate by members, the service will be expanded to other facilities. With the introduction of this service, public sports facilities are expected to develop beyond simple exercise spaces into smart sports facilities.
Mayor Jeon Seong-su said, “With the introduction of this AI Sports Media Platform, I hope that users of sports facilities will be able to enjoy sports more interestingly and enjoyably,” and added, “We will continue to create a smart sports environment that can be conveniently used in daily life by utilizing various AI technologies.”
