The Jeonbuk Fire Department plans to replace 19 outdated ambulances with special ambulances equipped with the latest medical equipment and newly deploy four medium-sized negative pressure ambulances specialized for infectious disease response.

Currently operating a total of 124 ambulances, the Jeonbuk Fire Department systematically manages them through regular performance evaluations. Through this project, they aim to further enhance the performance and reliability of the vehicles to prevent delays in emergency dispatches in advance.

In particular, medium-sized negative pressure ambulances for infectious disease response have been gradually deployed in emergency medical vulnerable areas by region since 2022. Currently, eight units are in operation in the province, and with this project, four more will be added in Gimje, Jangsu, Imsil, and Buan.

Accordingly, by next year, at least one medium-sized negative pressure ambulance will be supplied to every fire station, with a total of 15 units expected to be in operation on the field.

This reinforcement project is expected to reduce the possibility of emergency dispatch delays due to vehicle breakdowns and minimize the risk of secondary infections that may occur during the transport of infectious disease patients.

Lee Osuk, Chief of the Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province Fire Department, said, "We expect that the 2025 ambulance reinforcement project will greatly improve residents' access to and safety of emergency medical services," adding, "We will continuously strengthen the system so that residents can receive faster and more reliable ambulance services in critical moments."

Meanwhile, along with this project, the Jeonbuk Fire Department also plans to continuously improve the level of emergency medical services in the province by simultaneously promoting advanced training for 119 paramedics and the modernization of advanced ambulance equipment.
