Following Last Year, a Cultural and Artistic Concert Returns
Held Over Seven Days: March 21-24 and 28-30
Shinsegae announced on the 17th that it will set up a stage at the Suite Garden on the basement first floor of the Gangnam branch and present a spring-themed 'Blooming Concert.'
Shinsegae Department Store first introduced the 'Spring Concert' last year to offer customers a spring filled with Shinsegae's sensibility through culture and arts beyond just a shopping experience. For the second edition this year, the concert was renamed 'Blooming,' symbolizing the expression of spring with emotion. Unlike last year, which mainly featured classical performances, this year’s concert expanded its genres to include musicals, traditional Korean music (gugak), and jazz to better reflect the tastes of more customers.
The performances will take place over a total of seven days, from the 21st to the 24th and from the 28th to the 30th. In addition to professional ensembles, customers selected through prior applications can participate directly on stage in a busking format. This year, 13 customer teams will take part.
The concert will feature six musical performances and a variety of music genres. Representative performances include a classical concert by the 'Blank Saxophone Ensemble' (on the 21st), original gugak by 'Geomungo Jari' (on the 28th), and a mini musical concert starring actors Michael Lee and Kim Bo-kyung (on the 29th). The flagship musical 'Once,' presented on the 24th, differs from typical musicals accompanied by an orchestra, as all actors play instruments themselves in a busking style.
The musical Once features 17 actors, including Yoon Hyung-ryul, Lee Ye-eun, Han Seung-yoon, and Park Ji-il. Audiences can enjoy signature songs from the original film Once, such as 'Falling Slowly' and 'Gold.' Acoustic instruments like guitar, cello, ukulele, accordion, and string instruments combined with the actors’ voices are expected to create a spectacular stage. Additionally, songs requested by customers selected through prior applications will also be performed.
Shinsegae Department Store expects that customers will come together to fully enjoy the arrival of spring through music at the Blooming Concert. Last year’s Spring Concert received great feedback, with customers leaving satisfaction reviews and comments on the department store’s bulletin board after the performances. The videos of the featured performances accumulated approximately 9 million views on social media.
Kim Seon-jin, Head of Sales at Shinsegae Department Store, said, “We are presenting a special cultural and artistic concert to enhance communication with Shinsegae customers and convey Shinsegae’s unique spring sensibility. Moving forward, Shinsegae will continue to offer cultural and artistic experiences that bring special moments to customers’ daily lives through differentiated planning.”
