Samsung Electronics: "Investigating the Cause... Swift Action Will Be Taken"
Samsung Electronics' premium soundbar (HW-Q990D) has experienced a power failure issue after the latest program (firmware) update. This error is not limited to specific regions and reports of inconvenience have been flooding in from various locations including the United States, Europe, and Southeast Asia.
According to Samsung Electronics' global community and the US social site Reddit, hundreds of customers have reported sound output malfunctions after the latest firmware update for the HW-Q990D model was carried out on the 13th to 14th (local time).
Some users have inquired that the remote control and the soundbar's main unit buttons do not work after the update. Samsung recommended a 'forced shutdown and restart,' but it has been confirmed that this measure does not resolve the 'unresponsive' issue.
Devices that underwent the firmware update are also inaccessible through the Smart Things app. So far, this error has only appeared in the Q990D model.
The Q990D model is Samsung Electronics' flagship premium soundbar, highly praised to the extent of being selected as Editor's Choice in the North American market. It is a high-end model equipped with top-tier sound technologies such as Dolby Atmos and was released last year at a price of 1,990,000 KRW.
Samsung Electronics is aware of the problem and is investigating the cause. No official measures or new firmware release schedules have been determined yet. A Samsung Electronics representative stated, "We are currently identifying the cause of the error" and added, "We will take prompt action once the cause is identified."
