Up to Two Pets per Household, Once a Year
Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seongheon) will support medical expenses for companion animals of vulnerable groups such as basic livelihood security recipients, near-poverty groups, and single-parent families registered in the district through the ‘2025 Vulnerable Groups Our Neighborhood Animal Hospital Project.’

The support targets registered companion dogs and cats, providing assistance once a year for up to two animals per vulnerable household. Essential treatments such as basic health checkups, mandatory vaccinations, and heartworm prevention prescriptions, as well as optional treatments for symptoms or diseases discovered during basic checkups and neutering surgeries, are eligible for support.
Up to 200,000 KRW per animal is supported for both essential and optional treatments, with a maximum of 400,000 KRW. Guardians only need to pay 10,000 KRW for the essential treatment consultation fee and any amount exceeding 200,000 KRW for optional treatment costs. Participating animal hospitals include Prandas Animal Hospital (120 Geobukgol-ro), Hello Animal Hospital (178 Yeonhui-ro), and Bukahyeon Animal Hospital (289-1 Sinchon-ro), among three locations.
Residents wishing to participate should contact these animal hospitals in advance and visit with their ID, animal registration certificate, and proof documents (certificate of livelihood recipient, near-poverty group confirmation, single-parent family certificate).
Mayor Lee Seongheon stated, “We expect this project to alleviate the economic burden of vulnerable groups in caring for their companion animals, and we will do our best to improve animal welfare so that no one has to give up raising their pets due to financial issues.”
