"Kwon Seong-dong, Who Lies the Most, Should Have Stopped Yoon"
Park Beom-gye, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, predicted that "the Constitutional Court recognizes the gravity of the act of rebellion, so (President Yoon) will be dismissed with an 8-0 vote."
Park, the opposition party's secretary of the National Assembly's Legislation and Judiciary Committee, appeared on CBS Radio's 'Kim Hyun-jung's News Show' on the morning of the 17th and said, "The Constitutional Court may have concerns about whether to dismiss Prime Minister Han Duck-soo as well." Regarding the verdict date, he said, "It will not be today, and tomorrow is the defense day for Minister of Justice Park Sung-jae. Some predict the verdict on the 21st due to the customary Friday rulings, but predicting the verdict date has little significance." Park added, "Constitutional justices are human too. There are various variables, but I believe there will be no change in a unanimous decision."
Park said, "The Constitutional Court's (impeachment trial) verdict should proceed quickly, and once the result comes out, perhaps the People Power Party might be the first to run away," emphasizing, "Since public opinion is divided in squares and regions across the country, the verdict result should come out quickly."
Regarding opinions suggesting that "the ruling and opposition parties should issue a joint declaration to accept the Constitutional Court's decision," Park criticized, "What good is a joint acceptance declaration? They won't keep it." He then targeted the People Power Party, saying, "The reality now is that they are sympathizing with and blindly following the act of rebellion," adding, "They do not realize their wrongdoing, and if they do not realize it, they cannot keep it."
He mocked Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, saying, "He is the person who lies the most," and added, "If he hadn't lied, he would already be a presidential candidate." He continued, "Think back to the election. He became floor leader because he was a close aide and fellow prosecutor. His position has risen," and said, "Since he knew the president well, he should have stopped him, and it's the same now."
He further stated, "At the very least, accepting the evidence that the public clearly saw on TV is a prerequisite for acceptance," and added, "The acceptance declaration is not very meaningful. What good is a promise? They are people who do not keep their promises."
