Step Barefoot on the Beach... Busan Launches 5th 'Seven Beach Earthing Challenge'

A Health and Healing Campaign Across Seven Beaches
The Fifth Edition to Be Held at Imrang Beach on the 22nd

Step on the earth with your bare feet! The fifth edition of the 'Barefoot Walking Friendly City Busan, Seven Beach Earthing Challenge' has been confirmed.

The Busan Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Hyungjoon) announced on the 16th that the event will be held at Imrang Beach on the 22nd at 2 p.m.

The event is co-hosted by the Busan Metropolitan Government, Busan Ilbo, Busan Metropolitan Council, Busan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and BNK Financial Group, and organized by the Busan Barefoot Walking Friendly City Movement Headquarters. Local companies such as BNK Busan Bank and Busan Mirae IFC Medical Center are sponsoring the event.

Earthing refers to a new health campaign that connects the earth and our bodies by walking barefoot on the ground.

The Seven Beach Earthing Challenge is an event where participants walk along Busan's seven major beaches in sequence. Earthing activities, which involve walking barefoot on the beach, go beyond simple walking to offer healing time for the body and mind through connection with beautiful nature.

This is the fifth edition, following the declaration ceremony of Busan as a Barefoot Walking Friendly City and the first Earthing Challenge held at Haeundae Beach on April 21 last year, as well as events at Gwangalli, Dadaepo, and Songjeong beaches. The seven beaches are Haeundae, Gwangalli, Dadaepo, Songjeong, Songdo, Ilgwang, and Imrang.

On the day of the event, around 2,000 citizens are expected to participate in the following order: celebration performance, earthing course guide and stretching, and the Seven Beach Earthing Challenge.

Additionally, there will be a medical center booth for body composition and brainwave-pulse examinations, as well as a promotional campaign for 'Walking Practice in Daily Life, Walking Day on the 11th of Every Month.'

This edition of the Seven Beach Earthing Challenge at Imrang will differ from previous events, as participants can walk the 2km round-trip course individually and at their own pace during a convenient time slot.

Participants will start individually from the starting line in front of the stage at Imranggyo Breakwater, head toward Imrang Lighthouse Breakwater, return at the turnaround point, and then naturally disperse after returning to the stage area.

Registration is available until March 20 on the Seven Beach Earthing Challenge website. Participation is free, and all participants will receive souvenirs such as bottled water, a badge, and a shoe pouch.

This year's Seven Beach Earthing Challenge will begin with the Imrang edition and will be held at Ilgwang Beach in May and Songdo Beach in September.

An Cheolsoo, Director of the Busan Green City Bureau, said, "Imrang Beach is a place with hidden charms such as soft sand and a tranquil landscape, and it is also the starting point of the Galmaetgil trail that leads to Ilgwang Beach. I hope many citizens will enjoy and experience earthing with the sound of the waves, and gain health for both body and mind."
