Chungam High School Chairman: "I want to select Yoon as an embarrassing alumnus a million times"

Yoon Myunghwa, chairman of Chungam High School, said, "I want to select Yoon Seok-yeol and his group as the shameful graduates of Chungam a million times." Chungam High School is the alma mater of President Yoon Seok-yeol and other accused of rebellion.

Chairman Yoon participated in the emergency action rally for the immediate resignation of Yoon Seok-yeol and social reform held on the 14th in front of Dongsipjagak in Gwanghwamun, Seoul.

He first apologized, saying, "I am sorry to the people," and introduced himself as "Yoon Myunghwa, chairman of Chungam Academy, the alma mater of the rebellion ringleaders Yoon Seok-yeol, Lee Sang-min, Kim Yong-hyun, and Yeo In-hyung."

He continued, "I experienced the martial law under Jeon Du-hwan in 1979, and that fear prevented me from going to the square or Yeouido on the day martial law was declared," adding, "However, seeing the soldiers invading the National Assembly and the brave resistance of the people, I reflected on myself once again."

Chairman Yoon said, "The day after the martial law declaration, I wrote on my social media (SNS) that I want to select Yoon Seok-yeol and his group as the shameful graduates of Chungam a million times," adding, "The current students of Chungam have suffered indescribable pain."

He then said, "I could not remain silent in the face of this tragic reality where democracy in the Republic of Korea is brutally trampled, the constitution is violated, and the sovereignty of the people is denied."

Chairman Yoon raised his voice, saying, "The Yoon Seok-yeol administration is betraying the people, privatizing the state, and committing unconstitutional tyranny that destroys democracy," and urged, "Let us fight together with the power of citizens and justice to reclaim a country where the people are the owners."

Chairman Yoon was appointed as the appointed chairman of Chungam Academy in May 2022. Chungam Academy is currently managed by an appointed director dispatched by the Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education due to scandals such as meal service corruption and staff recruitment corruption.

Meanwhile, among the current government officials, besides President Yoon, former Minister of National Defense Kim Yong-hyun, who is known to have proposed and led the martial law, former Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min, former Commander of the Defense Counterintelligence Command Yeo In-hyung, and Major General Park Jong-seon of the 777th Command, an intelligence unit responsible for special intelligence collection on North Korea, are all alumni of Chungam High School.
