The '2025 LGT World Women's Curling Championship' will open on the 15th at the Uijeongbu Indoor Ice Rink.
In this tournament, over 100 athletes from 13 countries will compete in the women's team event until the 23rd.
This is the second time the World Women's Curling Championship is held in Korea since the 2009 Gangneung event. The World Championship is the most prestigious tournament in women's curling, with qualification spots for the '2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics' to be held in Italy next year (including the host country Italy and seven other countries).

The South Korean women's curling team will be represented by Kim Eun-ji, Kim Min-ji, Kim Su-ji, Seol Ye-eun, and Seol Ye-ji. The team gained momentum after reclaiming the top spot at the Asian Winter Games held in Harbin last month, their first Asian Games gold since the 2007 Changchun event 18 years ago.
Yoo In-chon, Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism, plans to visit the venue on the opening day to congratulate the successful hosting of the tournament and encourage the players by attending the preliminary match between Korea and Japan. Minister Yoo will inspect the event site and also hold a 'Winter Sports Cooperation Meeting' with officials and coaches from winter sports teams in the future.
Minister Yoo In-chon stated, "This tournament was selected as a target for the '2025 Local Government Hosted International Sports Event Support Project,' and the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism is providing operational funding. We will take care of the necessary matters so that Korea can leap forward as a global winter sports powerhouse through this event." He added, "I hope this tournament will expand the base of curling and be loved by even more citizens."
