An Octogenarian Disappeared Without a Trace While Collecting Oysters... Search Continues for Third Day

An 80-year-old woman who went out to collect oysters in Goheung, Jeonnam has gone missing, and firefighters and the coast guard have been searching for her for three days.

According to the Goheung Fire Station and Jeonnam Fire Headquarters on the 15th, Ms. A went out to the coast in Namyang-myeon, Goheung-gun to collect oysters on the 13th and did not return home. After receiving a report from her family, firefighters and the coast guard conducted a nighttime search near the mudflats in the direction of Udo, Goheung, but have not yet found the missing person.

Currently, a strong wind advisory and a high seas warning are in effect along the southern coast of Jeonnam, making the search difficult. In particular, the search is challenging due to high tide, but authorities plan to focus their search on the presumed location of the missing person as soon as the tide recedes.

A fire department official said, "A joint response request was received, so a rescue team has also been deployed," and added, "We will do our best to find the missing person."
