Both Parties Fail to Reach an Agreement
The Court for the Lawsuit Has Not Yet Been Decided
Yulhee, a former member of the group Laboum, and her ex-husband, Choi Minhwan, drummer of the band FT Island, will face off in a lawsuit after failing to reach an agreement on custody changes, alimony, and property division.
According to the legal community on the 14th, Judge Kang Yoon-hye of the Family Division 12 at the Seoul Family Court issued a decision of non-settlement on the 12th during the mediation hearing for Yulhee's request against Choi Minhwan for custody change and claims for alimony and property division. The two parties failed to reach an agreement.
With mediation failing, the two are expected to proceed with a formal lawsuit. The court that will hear the case has not yet been decided.
Yulhee filed for mediation last November, stating that there was no discussion about alimony or property division at the time of her divorce by mutual consent with Choi Minhwan.
Choi Minhwan and Yulhee had their first son in 2018 and held their wedding ceremony afterward. They later had twin daughters, making a total of three children. After five years of marriage, they separated in 2023, with custody of the children awarded to Choi Minhwan.
In October of last year, Yulhee revealed through a video posted on her YouTube channel that Choi Minhwan frequented entertainment establishments during their marriage, sparking controversy over his private life.
As the controversy spread, online communities criticized Choi Minhwan’s participation with his children on KBS 2TV’s parenting variety show "The Return of Superman," arguing it was inappropriate. In response, Choi Minhwan announced a suspension of his activities through his agency.
