Mayor Lim Byung-taek: "We Expect Small Business Growth Through This Support"

Siheung City in Gyeonggi Province will support the installation costs of the recently mandated 'barrier-free kiosks' for exemplary small business owners in the area.

On the 13th, Siheung City announced the 'Siheung Customized Premium Store Support Project,' which includes this support to revitalize the local commercial district and foster exemplary small business owners.

Siheung-si Supports Installation Costs of 'Barrier-Free Kiosks' for Small Business Owners

This project provides facility improvement support, expert management consultations, and 'Siheung Customized Premium Store' certification plaques to exemplary small business stores in the area. For facility improvement support, up to 90% of installation costs related to signage, interior, safety, and hygiene facilities will be covered within a limit of 3 million KRW. Eligible recipients are exemplary small business stores that have been operating for more than five years in Siheung City and are affiliated with the local currency 'Siru' as of the announcement date.

Notably, through this project, Siheung City will be the first local government in Gyeonggi Province to support the installation costs of 'barrier-free kiosks.' Although the purchase and rental costs of capital assets are generally excluded from support, an exception has been made to cover barrier-free kiosks. Installation costs will be supported for both purchased and leased kiosks.

Barrier-free kiosks have been mandated for installation since January 28th following the amendment of the 'Act on the Prohibition of Discrimination Against Persons with Disabilities.' According to the law, after a one-year grace period, starting January 28th next year, violations will incur fines of up to 30 million KRW.

The application period for this project is from the 24th to the 31st. Interested businesses can apply by visiting the Small Business Division at Siheung City Hall. For more details, please refer to the announcement on the Siheung City Hall website or contact the Small Business Division of Siheung City.

Mayor Lim Byung-taek of Siheung City stated, "Through the support for barrier-free kiosks, the first of its kind in Gyeonggi Province, we aim to lay the foundation for the growth of local small business owners," adding, "We hope that the selected premium stores will serve as positive motivation and hope for other small business owners."
