Eunpyeong-gu to Hold 'Joint Spring Cleaning' with Residents on the 17th

Environmental Maintenance Across a 91 km Round-Trip Route

Eunpyeong-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung) will conduct the ‘Spring Cleaning Eunpyeong-gu Public-Private Joint Environmental Maintenance Cleanup’ with public officials, public institutions, and other related organizations to clean away the accumulated grime from winter as the new spring arrives.

Eunpyeong-gu to Hold 'Joint Spring Cleaning' with Residents on the 17th Eunpyeong-gu will carry out the "Joint Public-Private Spring Cleaning Campaign" on the 17th. In March of last year, during the spring cleaning campaign, Kim Mi-kyung, the head of Eunpyeong-gu Office (center), along with residents and public officials, cleaned Bulgwangcheon Stream. The ‘Spring Cleaning Eunpyeong-gu Public-Private Joint Environmental Maintenance Cleanup’ will take place across the entire Eunpyeong-gu area starting at 9:30 AM on the 17th. This cleanup will be a joint effort between the public and private sectors to clean public facilities such as roads with high foot traffic, parks, transportation facilities, subway station surroundings, and rivers within the district.


Fifteen large cleaning vehicles, including water trucks, will be deployed to maintain the environment along a 91 km round-trip route throughout the district. Additionally, each of the 16 neighborhoods will select their own cleaning sections to collect accumulated trash in vulnerable residential areas, with a focus on areas around elementary, middle, and high school commuting routes as the new school term begins.


In particular, for the environmental maintenance of ‘Eunpyeong Peace Park,’ over 200 people including the district mayor, departments related to cleaning and facility management, and residents will gather at Eunpyeong Peace Park to collect trash from surrounding roads and maintain public facilities.


Furthermore, resource circulation and carbon neutrality environmental campaigns such as the waste reduction movement ‘Reduce 100g per household per day and reduce single-use products’ will be conducted simultaneously to encourage residents’ participation and raise awareness about the environment.


District Mayor Kim Mi-kyung stated, “We plan to promote a large-scale cleanup with residents to create a pleasant urban environment for the upcoming spring, and we will continue to do our best to keep Eunpyeong-gu clean.”
