Construction Begins on Jungnang-gu Youth Community Space 'Dingadong 6beonji'... Opening in 2026

Jungnang-gu (District Mayor Ryu Kyung-gi) has officially commenced construction of the youth community space 'Dingadong 6-beonji' and held a groundbreaking ceremony.

'Dingadong,' which means 'freely hang out and play,' is a special autonomous youth play space unique to Jungnang-gu, created in response to requests from youth and residents for a dedicated youth space.

Starting with the opening of 1-beonji in 2020 and currently operating up to 5-beonji, Dingadong is deeply meaningful as the 'Youth Space Creation Group,' composed of youths aged 12 to 19, along with local residents such as village activists, directly participated in the overall space design and interior, creating a space they themselves will use.

Over the past year, Dingadong has gained great popularity, with more than 74,000 youths using the space, establishing itself as a self-directed growth space for young people. Users actively engage in various planned programs and volunteer activities, such as the 'Japanese Language Residue Detective Group,' 'Carbon Neutral Campaign & Trash Picking,' and club activities, managing and participating in them directly.

Building on this popularity, the largest Dingadong 6-beonji groundbreaking ceremony was held on the 12th.

Dingadong 6-beonji will be established within the Jung-hwa 2-dong urban regeneration activation area. Reflecting residents' demands for a youth-only space, the district continuously consulted with related ministries, including the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport and Seoul City, ultimately securing a foundation for national and city subsidy support through the urban regeneration activation plan revision in January 2024.

Dingadong 6-beonji will be constructed at 314-38 Jung-hwa 2-dong, with a total floor area of 333.27㎡ and three above-ground floors, comprising various youth-tailored spaces such as ▲dance room and karaoke program rooms ▲attic and free space ▲career and psychological counseling rooms ▲rooftop terrace rest area.

Especially designed reflecting the opinions of current Dingadong users, it is expected to be filled with spaces that youths desire. Completion is scheduled for December, with an opening planned for 2026.

Ryu Kyung-gi, Mayor of Jungnang-gu, said, “I am pleased that a space where youths can comfortably stay and nurture their dreams has been prepared, and that parents’ worries about their children after school can be eased. We will continue to build 'Jungnang, the best educational city' so that youths can grow safely and freely.”
