Public officials of Hamyang-gun, Gyeongnam have recently been investigated after being caught driving under the influence multiple times over the past few months, and have been booked without detention.
According to the police and Hamyang-gun on the 14th, civil servant A from the county office was caught in a police DUI checkpoint in downtown Hamyang-eup at around 9:20 p.m. on the 7th.
At that time, A's blood alcohol concentration was at a level warranting license revocation. In November last year, civil servant B from the county office was also caught in a DUI checkpoint on a road in Hamyang-eup.
B's blood alcohol concentration was at a level warranting license suspension.
The county plans to proceed with disciplinary actions and other follow-up measures as soon as the police investigation results are released.
An official from the county stated, "We will strengthen DUI prevention education for local public officials to prevent such incidents from recurring."
