Yongin City Provides 800 Million KRW in Scholarships to 991 Local Students

Applications Accepted Until the 11th of Next Month

Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 14th that it will accept scholarship applications from the 19th of this month until the 11th of next month to foster local talent. The scholarship support targets 991 students, with a total budget of 809.2 million KRW.

The support areas are divided into 'scholarships' and 'education expenses.' The scholarships include ▲Cheoljjuk Scholarship (4-year scholarship for academic excellence) ▲Admission Scholarship (for university entrants) ▲Excellence Scholarship (for academically outstanding middle, high school, and university students) ▲Skill Scholarship (for elementary, middle, high school, and university students with outstanding award achievements) ▲Filial Piety Scholarship (for students recognized for filial deeds) ▲Self-Reliance Scholarship (for low-income university students) ▲Hyangto Scholarship (for university students from families residing in Yongin City for over 30 years) ▲Rainbow Scholarship (for students from multicultural families) ▲Gomduri Scholarship (for disabled high school students) ▲Veterans Scholarship (for descendants of independence activists) ▲Housing Scholarship (for university students residing in joint dormitories) ▲Dream Scholarship (for elementary students requiring emergency support), totaling 12 categories.


The city has doubled the number of recipients for the 'Gomduri Scholarship' and 'Dream Scholarship' to strengthen support for socially vulnerable groups.


Education expenses will be provided to 104 middle school students from multi-child families, totaling 31.2 million KRW.


Eligible applicants must have a residence in Yongin City and have lived there for more than two years. Applications can be submitted by downloading the appropriate scholarship application forms from the 'Yongin Scholarship Foundation' website, filling them out, and then visiting the foundation office to submit them in person.


Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin City stated, "We will continue to secure budgets steadily and strive to support local talent," adding, "We will create a quality educational environment through various educational support policies."


Meanwhile, since its establishment in 2001, the Yongin Scholarship Foundation has provided scholarships totaling 10.1821 billion KRW to 15,165 recipients up to last year.
