Gwangjin-gu Provides 14.1 Billion KRW to Create a 'Premium Education City'

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will provide a total budget of 14.1 billion KRW to 69 kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools in the area to improve the quality of public education.

This budget support is an important first step toward realizing the core strategy of the 8th elected administration, the "Cultural Education City," aiming to nurture future talents and create a safe and pleasant high-quality public education environment.

The district allocated 8 billion KRW in educational expense subsidies, an increase of 1 billion KRW compared to the previous year, to strengthen public education. This is divided into ▲ 1.5 billion KRW for specialized projects by kindergarten and school ▲ 1.5 billion KRW for demand-centered support projects ▲ 5 billion KRW for school facility and environment improvement projects.

In particular, in the facility and environment improvement sector, the artificial turf installation project stands out, supporting students' safe physical activities and providing residents with spaces for recreational sports. The district plans to create artificial turf playgrounds at three schools in the area in cooperation with the education office, allowing students and residents to use them during class and after-school hours.

Additionally, the district will support auxiliary personnel at general schools operating special classes and provide customized support for schools with sports teams to nurture student-athletes.

Along with this, efforts are being made to meet various educational needs by supporting eco-friendly school meals with 5.7 billion KRW and providing 400 million KRW in enrollment preparation funds for new elementary, middle, and high school students.

Furthermore, as part of the Gwangjin Future Education District project, 220 million KRW has been allocated for cultural and physical education village instructors' fees, school club operations, and school community programs, and 60 million KRW has been provided as a new project to operate safe field trips for students.

The district also plans to support native speaker online English classes and online learning for elementary students so that local students can learn through various channels and engage in self-directed learning.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, "Education is a fundamental right given to all citizens, and this right must be equally guaranteed," adding, "We will continue to support strengthening public education so that all students can enjoy quality education."
