The welcome ceremony was attended by about 150 people, including 76 seasonal workers who arrived, about 30 employing farmers, Jeon Jin-seon, Governor of Yangpyeong-gun, Ji Min-hee, member of the Yangpyeong County Council, Kwon Young-joo, head of the Yangpyeong branch of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, and heads of local agricultural organizations.

The foreign seasonal workers from Siem Reap, Banteay Meanchey, and Kandal provinces in Cambodia arrived at Incheon Airport at 7:30 a.m. that day. Yangpyeong-gun escorted the seasonal workers to the Yangpyeong Eco-friendly Agriculture Education Center, where they held the arrival welcome ceremony and provided education necessary for local adaptation in Yangpyeong-gun.

The seasonal workers who arrived this time are people aged between 25 and under 50 with farming experience. They were directly selected by the Cambodian Ministry of Labor and Vocational Training and entered the country after completing two weeks of training.

The county plans to introduce 185 seasonal workers to 69 farms in the first half of the year. On the 6th, 34 workers arrived and were assigned to 17 farms in the area and are currently working. The 76 seasonal workers who arrived on the 12th were assigned to 27 farms in the area, and 75 more workers are scheduled to arrive on April 2 and be deployed to local farms. Seasonal workers work on farms for a minimum of five months and a maximum of eight months before returning to their home country. Those who work diligently are given the opportunity to re-enter the country with the qualification of "diligent worker."

Since the beginning of the 8th term of the local government, Yangpyeong-gun introduced this system to resolve rural labor shortages. Following 34 arrivals in 2023 and 102 in 2024, about 230 workers are expected to arrive by the end of this year.

Jeon Jin-seon, Governor of Yangpyeong-gun, said, "I hope that the seasonal workers from Cambodia assigned to farms this time will work diligently and greatly help farms experiencing labor shortages," adding, "Through the continuous promotion of the seasonal worker system, we will transfer our agricultural technology to Cambodia and expand the scope of mutual exchange."
