Base Salary Increased by 4.86%
Special Leave Expanded and Welfare Improved
On the 10th, Andong City in North Gyeongsang Province and the Andong City Hall Public Labor Union of the National Federation of Labor Unions signed the 2024 wage and collective agreement (wage and collective bargaining agreement) at the City Hall Convergence Room.
After negotiations began in October last year, the final agreement was reached through the main negotiation in December and several rounds of working-level talks.
As a result, 128 administrative officials affiliated with Andong City Hall will receive retroactive wage increases, and the provisions of the collective agreement to improve working conditions will take effect immediately.
The main points of the agreement include: ▲ a 4.86% increase in base salary ▲ application of special leave regulations under the Andong City Local Government Employee Service Ordinance ▲ payment of 50% of base salary for up to six months during leave for the three major illnesses.
Song Jinyong, head of the Andong City Hall Public Labor Union, said, "There were many difficulties during the negotiation process, but it is very meaningful that we were able to sign the wage and collective bargaining agreement through mutual understanding and compromise," adding, "I hope continuous communication will continue in the future."
Lee Youngsik, head of the Autonomous Administration Division, stated, "We conducted negotiations considering fairness among the three public employee unions in Andong City and the budget," and added, "Although it may be difficult to meet 100% of the members' expectations, we will continue to strive to ensure that welfare benefits are applied fairly."
