Pocheon City and CHA University of Science and Technology Join Hands to Heal Residents Affected by Fighter Jet Friendly Fire Accident

Promoting Psychological Therapy Activities for Students in the Affected Area

Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 13th that it will promote psychological therapy activities for students in the affected area in collaboration with CHA University of Science and Technology (President Cha Won-tae).

The RISE Project Team at CHA University of Science and Technology will carry out volunteer activities to provide psychological stability for about 50 elementary school students in the accident area.


At the affected site, about 20 professional counselors with master's and doctoral degrees, along with faculty members from the Graduate School of Clinical Counseling Psychology (Dean Choi Tae-gyu) and the Graduate School of Art Therapy (Dean Jung Yeo-joo), will be deployed. The CHA University of Science and Technology CHAMP (Chief Executive Officer Program, President Kim Byung-kyun) Alumni Association has agreed to sponsor the costs related to these activities.


During this psychological therapy volunteer activity, comprehensive psychological tests will be conducted for all students of the local elementary school, and based on the test results, customized play therapy, art therapy, and counseling therapy will be provided. Additionally, depending on the students’ conditions and needs, the deployment of additional professional counselors is also being considered. Specific schedules and methods will be planned through consultation between Pocheon City and CHA University of Science and Technology.


A Pocheon City official stated, “Young students are experiencing psychological shock and expressing anxiety due to the sudden explosion accident, so professional psychological therapy is necessary,” and added, “The psychological therapy volunteer activities conducted by the professional personnel of CHA University of Science and Technology will greatly help the rapid recovery of the local community.”


A representative from CHA University of Science and Technology said, “We hope that the university’s professional capabilities will provide practical help in sharing the pain of the local community,” and added, “We will continue to cooperate with Pocheon City to prepare various support measures for the psychological stability and daily recovery of affected students and local residents.”


Meanwhile, on the 7th, CHA University of Science and Technology donated 10 million KRW in designated funds to Pocheon City through the Gyeonggi Province branch of the Korean Red Cross to support recovery efforts for the damage caused by the Air Force fighter jet accidental bombing incident.
