Tax Reduction for Disaster-Damaged Properties
100% Exemption of 2025 Property and Automobile Taxes
Pocheon City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Baek Young-hyun) announced on the 13th that it will promote local tax reductions to alleviate the local tax burden on damaged properties following the declaration of the Air Force fighter jet misfire damage area as a special disaster zone.
Under the current Local Tax Special Cases Act, local taxes on properties damaged by disasters within special disaster zones can be reduced with the approval of the local council. Accordingly, the city plans to promptly pursue local tax reductions by submitting a consent proposal for local tax reduction to the Pocheon City Council’s extraordinary session in March.
The reduction targets properties damaged by disasters within the special disaster zone, and 100% of the 2025 property tax and automobile tax will be waived. The reduction will be implemented either ex officio or upon application, and refunds will be available for local taxes already paid.
Mayor Baek Young-hyun of Pocheon said, “We will do our best to support tax reductions and other assistance to ease the financial burden on citizens who suffered property damage,” adding, “The city will spare no effort to help affected residents return to a stable daily life as soon as possible.”
