The Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism Social Welfare Foundation announced on the 13th that it will hold a 1-night, 2-day temple stay program called 'I Go to the Temple, Ssanggyesa' for unmarried men and women to meet, at Ssanggyesa Temple in Hadong on the 18th and 19th of next month.
According to the Jogye Order Welfare Foundation, the program will select 20 participants, 10 men and 10 women. At Ssanggyesa, a thousand-year-old temple in Jirisan, various activities such as experiencing traditional Korean tea amid the beauty of cherry blossoms have been prepared.
CEO Venerable Myojang said, "Ssanggyesa, where the Buddha's teachings that have continued for a thousand years harmonize with nature, is a representative place of practice in our country," and added, "I hope that through the 2025 I Go to the Temple program, it will become an opportunity for young people longing for sincere encounters to form good relationships."
The I Go to the Temple program is conducted in cooperation with the Ministry of Health and Welfare to address the low birthrate issue. Last year, 3,408 people applied, and 160 were selected to participate. Through this, 33 couples were formed.
Any unmarried men and women in their 20s and 30s can apply. Applications will be accepted on the Jogye Order Welfare Foundation website from the 17th to the 25th.
