The National 3.15 Democratic Cemetery Management Office held a memorial service and cemetery cleaning activity on the 13th at the gravesites of eight unaccompanied deceased individuals whose memorial day falls in March, with all staff members paying respects on behalf of their families.
The individuals honored on this day were Kim Youngho, Kim Yongshil, Kim Juyeol, Kim Hyodeok, Kim Samung, Oh Sungwon, Kim Youngjun, and Jeon Euigyu, all of whom lost their lives at a young age after being shot during the protest against the fraudulent March 15, 1960 election.
This year marks the 65th anniversary of the March 15 Uprising, and a roll call ceremony was held to commemorate the names and achievements of these eight individuals, including Kim Youngho, adding significance to the event.
Director Lee Sungcheol stated, "We will continue to hold memorial services for unaccompanied deceased individuals and do our utmost to honor the March 15 Uprising heroes who have no immediate family."
Currently, a total of 60 democratic martyrs are buried at the National 3.15 Democratic Cemetery. For the 15 unaccompanied deceased individuals with no immediate family, memorial services are held not only on their memorial days but also during major holidays, with staff members paying respects on behalf of the bereaved families to honor their spirits.
