On the 13th, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment announced the opening of the ‘Industrial Transition Joint Training Center’ at the Global Education Center in Eumseong, Chungbuk.
About 60 people attended the opening ceremony held the day before, including Choi Cheol-gon, CEO of HD Hyundai Construction Equipment; Lim Young-mi, Director of the Vocational Competency Policy Bureau at the Ministry of Employment and Labor; Kim Gyu-seok, Director of Capability Development at the Human Resources Development Service of Korea; Lee Seung-hwan, President of Gumi University; and Hwang Soo-sung, President of Korea Polytechnic University.
The Industrial Transition Joint Training Center is a vocational competency development training platform supported by the Ministry of Employment and Labor. Utilizing HD Hyundai Construction Equipment’s educational infrastructure, it provides training to industry workers and job seekers on unmanned and remote construction machinery technologies, eco-friendly power sources such as electric batteries, hydrogen engines, hydrogen fuel cells, and practical ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) training on reducing carbon emissions at construction sites.
HD Hyundai Construction Equipment has prepared eco-friendly excavator lecture rooms, a future technology exhibition hall, a content production studio, VR·AR experience zones, and a large auditorium across two floors with a total floor area of 2,244㎡ (approximately 700 pyeong) within the existing Eumseong Global Education Center. Additionally, a separate 330㎡ (about 100 pyeong) driving and welding lecture room was renovated.
The Industrial Transition Joint Training Center aims to enhance the understanding of future construction machinery technologies among employees of small and medium-sized enterprises with poor training conditions and job seekers, helping them adapt to industrial changes.
The center plans to train more than 1,500 students annually and further expand its educational infrastructure through approximately 2 billion KRW in government funding by 2028.
Along with the opening ceremony, HD Hyundai Construction Equipment signed an ‘Industry-Academia Cooperation Agreement for Construction Machinery Talent Development’ with Gumi University and Korea Polytechnic University.
Through this agreement, the institutions plan to collaborate on new technology education in the construction machinery industry and the operation of domestic and international employment linkage programs.
CEO Choi said, “In this era of industrial transition marked by digital transformation and the adoption of eco-friendly technologies, nurturing talent equipped with advanced technology and practical field capabilities is more important than ever. We will contribute to strengthening national competitiveness through customized education development and industry-academia technology exchange.”
