Damyang County in Jeollanam-do announced on the 13th that it will implement the "Visiting Senior Center Oral Care Service" project for elderly users of senior centers in Changpyeong-myeon until April 1.
The Visiting Oral Care Service, which is very popular among seniors, is provided by three regional teams consisting of dentists and dental hygienists. The service includes ▲oral health education ▲individual oral examinations and consultations ▲fluoride application ▲denture disinfection, and more, to help maintain healthy teeth.
The county has received a great response by encouraging seniors to correct improper dental care habits through oral health education.
A county official stated, "Dental health is more important than anything for a healthy old age," and added, "We will continue to do our best so that residents can maintain healthy teeth."
Meanwhile, last year the county visited 45 senior centers and provided services to 1,109 elderly users. In the future, the county plans to visit senior centers in Damyang-eup, Mujung-myeon, and Daejeon-myeon to help residents with oral care.
