Buan County Applies for 'Millennium Craft Production Complex Support Project'

Applications Accepted Until the 25th
"Fostering the Nation's Top Brand"

Buan County, North Jeolla Province, announced on the 13th that it will be accepting applications for the 2025 Cheonnyeonui Somssi Production Complex Support Project at the designated RPCs until the 25th.

The Cheonnyeonui Somssi Support Project is being implemented to foster Buan's branded rice, "Cheonnyeonui Somssi," as the nation's top brand. The project inspects whether farmers transplant rice seedlings at the optimal time, manage weed and lodging damage, and sell paddy rice in three stages. Farmers who fulfill all criteria will receive protein incentives and production encouragement payments.

To sign a contract between the RPC and the farmer, the farmland must be registered as a management entity and this year's direct payment application must be completed.

To verify this, farmers must bring proof of their direct payment application and apply at the RPC. However, those who applied for direct payments online do not need to bring additional documents, as electronic verification is possible. Farmland that failed to meet requirements in 2023-2024, as well as land used for double cropping or potato house cultivation, is not eligible. Each farmer may apply for up to 8 hectares.

The production encouragement payment for protein content is 100 KRW per kilogram for rice with 6% or less and 6.1-6.5% protein, 80 KRW for 6.6-6.9%, and 50 KRW for 7% or higher. Rice with 7% or higher protein content will be excluded from next year's project. The protein incentive is 30 KRW per kilogram for 6% or less and 15 KRW for 6.1-6.5%.

An official from the county said, "This project is important for producing high-quality rice, and we hope that many farmers participate to enhance the competitiveness of Buan rice."
