Gwangju Institute of Science and Technology (GIST, President Lim Ki-chul) announced on the 13th that it will hold a meeting event with artist Heo Daljae, who continues the tradition of Korean Namjong Muninhwa (Southern School Literati Painting).

The event, which will take place on the 27th at Oryong Art Hall, will offer an in-depth look into the artistic world of Heo Daljae, where the tradition and modern interpretation of Namjong Muninhwa are harmoniously blended. Attendees will have the special opportunity to listen to explanations of the exhibited works and directly hear vivid stories about the artist's philosophy and creative process.

Heo Daljae is widely known as a leading artist of the new Namjonghwa, who inherits tradition while adding a modern sensibility. He is the grandson of Master Heo Baekryeon, a great figure in Korean Namjong Muninhwa.

The event will also provide a meaningful opportunity to deeply understand the unique charm of the new Namjonghwa and the aesthetics of lines and blank spaces inherent in East Asian painting, allowing participants to feel how art permeates daily life and delivers inspiration.

Kim Jaegwan, Director of GIST Academy, stated, "The meeting with artist Heo Daljae, who is modernizing and developing the tradition of Namjonghwa, will add great significance to the local art community," and added, "We expect this event to convey the value and depth of local culture and arts, and to provide an opportunity for people to become more familiar with art."
