On the 13th, both the KOSPI and KOSDAQ markets started off with slight gains.
On this day, the KOSPI index opened at 2598.06, up 0.90% from the previous trading day, and as of 9:06 AM, it was recording 2594.15. Individual investors were the sole buyers with net purchases of 45.2 billion KRW, while foreigners and institutions were net sellers with 45.0 billion KRW and 3.4 billion KRW respectively.
Most sectors showed an upward trend. Transportation equipment and parts (2.01%), medical and precision instruments (1.15%), electrical and electronics (1.00%), machinery and equipment (0.91%), and electricity and gas (0.86%) rose in that order. On the other hand, metals (-0.82%), food and tobacco (-0.19%), and chemicals (-0.04%) declined.
Among the top market capitalization stocks, sector-wise fortunes varied. Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix, ranked first and second in market cap, showed strong gains of 1.09% and 2.06% respectively. This was interpreted as influenced by the semiconductor stocks closing higher in the New York market due to the possibility of a joint semiconductor production corporation between TSMC and Intel. NAVER (2.10%) and Hanwha Aerospace (3.61%) also rose. LG Energy Solution (-0.29%) and Hyundai Motor (-0.10%) declined.
The KOSDAQ index also opened at 735.75, up 0.86% from the previous session, and is currently at 736.28. Individuals and institutions were net buyers with 27.6 billion KRW and 4.2 billion KRW respectively, while foreigners were net sellers with 30.3 billion KRW.
Most sectors in KOSDAQ also showed gains. Construction rose 1.08%, followed by medical and precision instruments (0.95%), electrical and electronics (0.71%), metals (0.59%), manufacturing (0.45%), and finance (0.37%). Publishing and media reproduction (-0.92%), paper and wood (-0.36%), and transportation and warehousing (-0.14%) declined.
Among the top market cap stocks, except for Hugel (-0.15%), most stocks such as Alteogen (4.43%), EcoPro BM (0.50%), HLB (0.06%), EcoPro (0.51%), Rainbow Robotics (1.27%), and Samchundang Pharmaceutical (0.36%) were rising.
