The Jeollanam-do Institute of Health and Environment will conduct free water quality inspections for local social welfare facilities. The inspections will target groundwater used as drinking water in areas not supplied with tap water, testing both the groundwater itself and water that has passed through water purifiers.

For nine months until November, professional water quality inspectors will visit the social welfare facilities in person to collect samples.

The groundwater will be tested for 46 drinking water quality parameters, while the water from purifiers will be checked for turbidity and total coliform bacteria. The institute will also provide guidance on sanitary management of drinking water.

The total number of facilities to be inspected is 79, an increase from last year's 64. By facility type, there are 64 senior welfare facilities, 9 facilities for people with disabilities, 4 youth and child welfare facilities, and 2 homeless shelters or local self-sufficiency centers.

Park Hyeyoung, head of the Water Quality Analysis Division at the Jeollanam-do Institute of Health and Environment, said, "We will contribute to improving water welfare by alleviating concerns about drinking water among socially and health-vulnerable groups and ensuring the supply of safe drinking water."
