Dankook University signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) for successful cooperation in the ‘Regional Innovation-Centered University Support System (RISE)’ along with Gangnam University and Yongin University.

Dankook University announced on the 14th that it signed the MOU at its Jukjeon Campus to collaborate on the Gyeonggi-do RISE project.
The signing ceremony held on the 21st of last month was attended by Kim Oh-young, Director of the Dankook University RISE Project Group (Vice President for Academic Affairs), Joo Hae-jong, Director of the Gangnam University RISE Project Group, Park Joon-seok, Director of the Industry-Academic Cooperation Group at Yongin University, and other officials. Through this agreement, each university agreed to implement community joint projects linked to the Gyeonggi-do RISE project and to collaborate on industry-academic joint technology development with companies nurturing local talent.
Furthermore, on the 6th of this month, a ‘Ministry of Education RISE Project Expert Forum for Solving Regional Community Issues’ jointly hosted by these universities was held at Yongin University. At the forum, Lee Dong-hoon, Senior Committee Member of the Yongin City Industrial Promotion Agency, was invited to discuss the main agenda titled ‘Successful RISE System Cooperation of Local Universities through SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, Threats) Analysis of Yongin Special City.’
Gyeonggi-do is promoting the RISE project with the vision of creating a global innovation capital that grows together through cooperation among local governments, industries, and academia. Dankook University plans to strengthen regional competitiveness and lead co-growth among local governments, universities, and industries by fostering an innovative ecosystem in the seven future growth industries (G7) promoted by Gyeonggi-do: semiconductors, AI big data, advanced mobility, bio, renewable energy, quantum, and digital transformation industries.
Kim Oh-young, Director of the Dankook University RISE Project Group, said, “Through this agreement, let us nurture local resident-type talent based on the specialized education of each university and establish an organic governance system.”
