Five people sustained serious and minor injuries after a work vehicle overturned inside a tunnel at the Subway Line 4 train depot construction site in Namyangju, Gyeonggi Province, prompting a police investigation.

According to the Gyeonggi Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters on the 13th, the work vehicle overturned inside the tunnel at the Subway Line 4 train depot construction site in Geumgok-ri, Jinjeop-eup, Namyangju, at around 8:38 a.m. on the 12th.

As a result of the accident, three workers sustained serious injuries, and two people in their 50s suffered minor injuries and were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.

The Gyeonggi Northern Fire and Disaster Headquarters reported that the accident occurred when the work vehicle was descending while moving along the monorail due to a brake failure, causing five workers to fall.

The police are investigating whether there was any violation of the Serious Accidents Punishment Act, targeting site managers and workers.
