Until the 24th... Community Safety Patrol Activities
Fifty Citizens Aged 19 or Older with Bicycles Needed
The Gwangju Autonomous Police Committee announced on the 12th that it is recruiting 50 members for the "Bitgoeul Bicycle Patrol," a group in which citizens voluntarily participate to help maintain public safety.
The "Bitgoeul Bicycle Patrol" has been active since 2022 to encourage voluntary citizen participation in addressing local security issues. The patrol requests improvements to old or damaged security facilities in areas beyond the police's reach, such as bicycle paths and urban alleyways, through the Safety Report Portal. They also actively contribute to community safety by reporting various risk factors that threaten residents' safety to 112.
The application period for the 4th term of the patrol is open until the 24th. Any Gwangju resident aged 19 or older who owns a bicycle and is able to participate in patrol activities can apply. Applicants can download the application form from the Gwangju City website's notices or the Gwangju Autonomous Police Committee website, fill it out, and submit it via email.
Selected members will receive an appointment certificate along with patrol equipment and other support. At the end of the year, outstanding members will be awarded a commendation from the chairperson of the Autonomous Police Committee. In addition, if reports made through the Safety Report Portal are accepted, volunteer service hours will be recognized, and top-performing members will receive a monthly mobile gift certificate.
An Jin, chairperson of the Gwangju Autonomous Police Committee, said, "Crime prevention and safety in the community can only be achieved through the interest and participation of local residents," and urged, "We hope for active interest and participation from citizens."
