President Jeong Cheoldong Receives 1.4 Billion KRW in Salary
Last year, the highest-paid person at LG Display was former President Jeong Ho-young.
According to the LG Display business report disclosed on the 12th, former President Jeong Ho-young, who retired at the end of 2023, received a total compensation of 1.521 billion KRW last year, including a retirement allowance of 1.17 billion KRW.
Current President Jeong Cheol-dong ranked second with a salary of 1.424 billion KRW last year, followed by Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Kim Seong-hyun with 545 million KRW.
As of the end of last year, LG Display had a total of 25,144 employees, with an average salary per employee of 83 million KRW. The parental leave usage rate was 28.9% (13.3% for men and 88.0% for women).
Additionally, LG Display invested more than 2 trillion KRW in research and development (R&D) for three consecutive years.
Last year, LG Display's R&D expenses amounted to 2.2374 trillion KRW. Following 2.4316 trillion KRW in 2022 and 2.3995 trillion KRW in 2023, the company maintained R&D spending above 2 trillion KRW for three consecutive years.
Thanks to R&D investments, the number of patents registered annually last year reached 4,823, showing a steady increase following 4,536 in 2022 and 4,570 in 2023.
LG Display plans to accelerate its business transformation towards organic light-emitting diode (OLED) by strengthening its R&D capabilities.
Last year, the company succeeded in developing technology that raised luminance to an industry-leading level of 4,000 nits (nit is the brightness of one candle) by applying the '4-stack tandem' technology, which stacks red, green, and blue (RGB) elements in four independent layers, for the first time in large OLEDs.
