99,500 Trees to Be Planted by the 8th of Next Month
On the 12th, Anseong City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it will carry out a spring afforestation project covering an area of 40 hectares until the 8th of next month to enhance the economic and public value of forests and establish a foundation for sustainable forest management.
Through this project, the city plans to create 35 hectares of economic forests for high-quality timber production and 5 hectares of large tree public afforestation to improve the landscape around residential areas. A total of 99,500 trees, including Baekhap trees and Hwabaek trees, will be planted in the afforestation project.
Anseong City intends to conduct continuous post-management according to the growth stages of the trees even after the afforestation project. Through this, the city aims to provide healthy forests to its citizens and contribute to carbon absorption and environmental improvement.
Along with the spring afforestation project, the city will hold a tree-planting day commemorative event on the 26th at San 73-1, Yanggiri, Gongdo-eup. At the event, public officials and citizens will participate in planting Hwabaek trees.
Kim Bora, mayor of Anseong City, said, "We will do our best to systematically manage forest resources through thorough post-management and provide healthy forests to our citizens."
