Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, Rolls Up Sleeves to Organize Hoarder Elderly's Home

Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, personally took part in improving the living environment on the afternoon of the 11th to assist a solitary elderly person suspected of hoarding disorder, together with the Seongsan 2-dong Silppuri Welfare Companion Group.

This activity was carried out as part of the ‘Ieum Care’ project by the Seongsan 2-dong Silppuri Welfare Companion Group, a neighborhood-level resident organization formed to realize ‘Silppuri Welfare’ and eliminate welfare blind spots.

The Companion Group recognized that the elderly person had been living for a long time surrounded by accumulated trash and unnecessary items inside the house, leading to serious hygiene and safety issues, and readily extended a helping hand.

On the day, Mayor Park Gang-su and the Companion Group collected trash piled up throughout the house and organized belongings. Along with this, cleaning work was conducted to ensure the elderly person could live in a clean environment.

After about two hours of work, the elderly person’s home, once filled with trash and items, was filled with the warm spirit of the neighbors.

Mayor Park Gang-su of Mapo District said, “Each member of the Silppuri Welfare Companion Group is a reliable neighbor to one another and a hope for our Mapo District,” and added, “I sincerely thank you for promoting the ‘Ieum Care’ project with a heart that cares for neighbors despite your busy schedules.” He continued, “Mapo District will implement various policies to realize Silppuri Welfare,” and added, “I ask for the continued interest and participation of the Companion Group members so that Silppuri Welfare can take deep root in the lives of our residents.”
