Was It a Strategy Session for Legal Response?"
Choo Mi-ae, a member of the Democratic Party of Korea, claimed, "There is a possibility that President Yoon Seok-yeol directly called Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung during the emergency martial law on December 3," and added, "There has been continuous obstruction of the investigation into the secret phone containing the call records."
On the 12th, on MBC Radio's 'Kim Jong-bae's Focus,' Rep. Choo said, "When the High-ranking Officials' Crime Investigation Office (HOCI) tried to secure the presidential office's secret phone server, the prosecution immediately raided HOCI on the same day, obstructing the investigation," and added, "The secret phone likely contains tremendous content revealing the full details, including direct command over the martial law." She also said, "If the contents of the secret phone are revealed, public opinion will inevitably face the collapse or disbandment of the prosecution organization itself," and "Therefore, they are matching the tune by resorting to sophistry and legal distortion."
She continued, "About two hours after the martial law, around 12:37 a.m. on December 3 last year, a prosecutor from the Supreme Prosecutors' Office's Forensic Science Department had a 1 minute and 22 seconds call with a counterintelligence colonel," and "Afterwards, the counterintelligence colonel had a 2 minutes and 2 seconds call with the head of the National Intelligence Service's Scientific Response Division around 12:53 a.m." She explained, "They claim these were private courtesy calls, but on the night of martial law, the head of the forensic science department would not have thought to go to the National Election Commission without orders from above," adding, "It would have been impossible without instructions from higher-ups."
She stated, "Counterintelligence Commander Yeo In-hyung gave orders to Jung Sung-woo, who then passed commands to the colonels that the prosecution and the National Intelligence Service would come," and "Considering such organized movements, it is reasonable to suspect that President Yoon made the call himself." She also said, "On the night of the insurrection, President Yoon was the one who gave direct and on-site commands," and "There is a possibility that President Yoon directly called Prosecutor General Shim at that time."
Regarding Prosecutor General Shim convening a nationwide prosecutors' meeting when President Yoon was indicted in January, she claimed, "It was a way to delay the indictment," and "I believe the prosecutors' meeting was deliberately held." Rep. Choo said, "The day after the December 3 martial law, a meeting was held at a private residence in Samcheong-dong with Minister of Justice Park Seong-jae, Senior Secretary for Civil Affairs Kim Ju-hyun, Director of the Ministry of Government Legislation Lee Wan-gyu, and Minister of the Interior and Safety Lee Sang-min," and added, "It is hard not to suspect that it was a strategic meeting in preparation for the subsequent investigation." She continued, "The director was formerly President Yoon's lawyer, and Senior Secretary Kim is a direct senior to Prosecutor General Shim Woo-jung," and "Considering their close network, it raises suspicion that they divided roles in preparation for the upcoming investigation."
