A theme park blending nature, culture, and leisure will be established in the Baekryongje area of Dasi-myeon, Naju-si, Jeollanam-do.

On the 11th, Naju City held a groundbreaking ceremony for the "Baekryongje Idle Land Theme Park Development Project" at Baekryong Reservoir in Dasi-myeon, attended by about 500 local residents.

The Baekryongje Theme Park, which broke ground that day, will be built on an idle land area of 25,508 square meters in front of Baekryong Reservoir (262-2 Unbong-ri, Dasi-myeon), and will include rest areas, a stream, a wildflower garden, a children's playground, a parking lot with 116 spaces, restrooms, and more.

In particular, due to the historical connection that Sambong Jeong Dojeon, a key figure in the founding of the Joseon Dynasty, was exiled to Naju at the end of the Goryeo Dynasty and developed his people-centered governance philosophy there, a "Jeong Dojeon Exhibition Hall" will be established within the theme park. The project will invest 3.5 billion KRW (50% provincial funds, 50% municipal funds) and is scheduled for completion in July next year.

The Baekryongje Theme Park project began after completion of the basic plan and feasibility study in 2017, and was launched by applying for the project to Jeollanam-do. In particular, when Mayor Yoon Byungtae served as Vice Governor for Political Affairs of Jeollanam-do in 2020, the Baekryongje Theme Park was confirmed as a new cultural tourism resource development project, securing momentum for its promotion.

Naju City plans to develop Baekryongje as a landmark where culture, leisure, and nature come together, providing a rest area for residents and connecting it as a tourist route with Sambong Jeong Dojeon Chodang in Dasi-myeon, the Korea Natural Dyeing Museum, the Bokam-ri Ancient Tombs Exhibition Hall, the birthplace of General Na Daeyong (Sochungsa) in Munpyeong-myeon, as well as the Yeongsangang Sambaek-ri Bicycle Path, Anchang Park Golf Course, and the Namdo Uibyeong History Museum in Gongsan-myeon.
