Yongin City in Gyeonggi Province is implementing a groundbreaking transportation support measure for pregnant women.

On the 12th, Yongin City announced that starting from the 15th, it will operate a 'Voucher Taxi' service for pregnant women. This service expands the existing 'Voucher Taxi,' which was previously supported for severely mobility-impaired individuals who do not use wheelchairs, to include pregnant women.

The project supports 200 taxis, which will operate as regular taxis under normal circumstances, but when assigned through the Yongin City Transportation Vulnerable Mobility Support Center, they will provide mobility support services.

The fare is a flat rate of 1,500 KRW. The city covers the remaining cost. Pregnant women can use the service without any limit on the number of rides from the date of pregnancy confirmation until six months after childbirth.

To use the service, prior registration at the 'Yongin City Transportation Vulnerable Mobility Support Center' is required. Applicants need to prepare documents such as a pregnancy confirmation certificate and a resident registration copy and visit the center. Registration can also be completed via email or fax.

After the registration review is completed, users can book taxis by phone. Service hours are from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. For more details, visit the Yongin City Transportation Vulnerable Mobility Support Center website.

Lee Sang-il, Mayor of Yongin City, said, "This service will allow pregnant women to use transportation more conveniently," and added, "We will continue to strive to provide more thorough transportation welfare services, including expanding mobility rights for transportation-vulnerable groups."
