Successful Diversification of Cathode Material Clients
New Orders Expected to Overcome the Chasm
LNDF announced on the 11th that it has signed a long-term supply contract worth 3.5184 trillion KRW for high-nickel cathode materials with a global original equipment manufacturer (OEM).
The contracting party, supply region, and contract period were kept confidential at the customer's request. The company explained, "Due to confidentiality clauses, detailed information cannot be disclosed, but it is a strategic supply contract with a global OEM."
The product covered by this long-term supply contract is an ultra-high-nickel product with 95% nickel content, showcased at Korea's largest battery exhibition, InterBattery 2025. This product is recognized as a next-generation battery material featuring a single-crystal structure and LNDF's proprietary blending technology.
Industry insiders believe that this product is likely to be supplied as the recently popular 46-pie (46mm diameter) product in the market. Additionally, success in diversifying clients is expected to enhance future sales stability.
Seunghun Ryu, Vice President of LNDF, stated, "It is meaningful to secure a significant large-scale order during the challenging period of slowing electric vehicle demand since last year," adding, "Based on this contract, we will create continuous growth momentum through expanding new businesses such as lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cathode materials and pursuing additional orders."
Meanwhile, the company is promoting various order acquisition activities and new businesses this year to overcome the chasm (temporary demand stagnation). This contract is one of the new orders prepared over a long period, and the company is accelerating additional orders and the expansion of the LFP new business.
