Head-Shaving Ceremony on the Steps of the National Assembly in Yeouido on the 11th
Park Hongbae, Jeon Jinsook, and Kim Moonsoo Urge "Prompt Dismissal"
Members of the Democratic Party of Korea held a head-shaving ceremony urging the Constitutional Court to promptly dismiss President Yoon Seok-yeol.
At around 1:30 PM on the 11th, Democratic Party members Park Hong-bae, Jeon Jin-sook, and Kim Moon-soo held a head-shaving ceremony on the steps in front of the National Assembly main building in Yeouido. In his resolution speech, Park said, "The prosecution, which has fallen into servitude to those in power, has released the ringleader of the rebellion," adding, "As time passes, the constitutional order is collapsing, yet the ringleader of the rebellion still has not faced legal judgment."
Park stated, "If President Yoon is not dismissed to end the rebellion, the cries of April 19, the blood and tears of the June Struggle, the Candlelight Revolution, and the light coalition will all collapse," and requested, "Please do not ignore the people's desperate cries and uphold justice (Constitutional Court)." He continued, "Respected Constitutional Court justices who protect the people from dictatorship, please judge the power that goes against the will of the people."
Just before the event, Representative Jeon, who also decided to participate in the head-shaving, raised his voice, saying, "The court and prosecution released the person who declared martial law and incited rebellion," and asked, "How can we suppress this anger and fury?"
Jeon said, "Many people are here right now," and added, "They are demanding not to even mention the word 'fasting,' to fight with all their might, and to definitely dismiss Yoon Seok-yeol." He also said, "I will make straw sandals from my hair and send them to the Constitutional Court justices."
Jeon emphasized, "If I can prevent the people of the Republic of Korea from feeling anxious, I will throw my body to show the Constitutional Court justices how desperately the people are demanding Yoon Seok-yeol’s dismissal," and added, "Although I have shown determination through today's head-shaving, I will express our earnest feelings through sit-ins and fasting at Gwanghwamun, so I ask the people to join us."
Representative Kim also said, "I ask the Constitutional Court justices to promptly rule on the dismissal of President Yoon so that the Republic of Korea does not fall further into chaos."
A female citizen who participated in the head-shaving ceremony that day tearfully expressed her support, saying, "Thank you for standing with us."
