Kwon Seong-dong: "We will not pressure the Constitutional Court with extra-parliamentary protests like the opposition"... On some ruling party protests, he says "It's a matter of conviction"

Decision Made at People Power Party General Meeting
Kwon: "We Will State Our Position at Various Meetings"

On the 11th, the People Power Party decided not to engage in a party-level counteraction against the opposition camp, including the Democratic Party of Korea, which has been conducting relay fasting and some lawmakers shaving their heads to demand the impeachment of President Yoon Seok-yeol as part of their outdoor protests.

Kwon Seong-dong, floor leader of the People Power Party, told reporters after a party meeting at the National Assembly, "There were various opinions on how to respond to the Democratic Party abandoning the core duties of the National Assembly?people's livelihood and the economy?and focusing solely on outdoor protest politics," adding this was the party's stance.

He continued, "If there is a particular problem, we will take collective action, but we will express our position through various meetings," and added, "We have decided not to engage in outdoor protests or pressure the Constitutional Court through fasting like the Democratic Party."

Earlier, in his remarks at the party meeting, Floor Leader Kwon emphasized, "As a responsible ruling party, we must calmly and orderly manage the turmoil caused by Lee Jae-myung's faction's instigation of internal conflict and social unrest," stressing, "First and foremost is stability, and second is stability. We will prepare for national stability and turmoil management before and after the Constitutional Court's ruling."

Meanwhile, the Democratic Party held an emergency action rally centered around a tent with the participation of its leadership in the afternoon and plans to continue relay condemnation speeches by lawmakers nearby until late at night.

Democratic Party lawmakers Kang Deuk-gu, Kim Jun-hyeok, Min Hyung-bae, Park Soo-hyun, Social Democratic Party lawmaker Han Chang-min, and Progressive Party lawmaker Yoon Jong-oh, members of the National Assembly coalition for Yoon Seok-yeol's impeachment, have decided to fast in front of the Constitutional Court.

For first-term Democratic Party lawmakers Jeon Jin-sook, Park Hong-bae, and Kim Moon-soo, a head-shaving ceremony was held in front of the main building of the National Assembly, urging the Constitutional Court justices to expedite the dismissal of President Yoon Seok-yeol.

Some People Power Party lawmakers, including Yoon Sang-hyun, Park Dae-chul, Jang Dong-hyuk, Park Sung-min, Kim Seon-kyo, Lee Heon-seung, and Kang Seung-gyu, also plan to conduct 24-hour solo relay protests in front of the Constitutional Court starting from this day, calling for the dismissal of President Yoon's impeachment.

Regarding this, Floor Leader Kwon said, "This is a matter of individual conscience and judgment," adding, "The leadership has no authority to dictate or provide guidelines on this."
