From AI Literacy to Major Courses,
Full-Scale Launch of AI Convergence Education
Kyungnam College of Information & Technology is drawing attention by introducing an integrated curriculum to strengthen students' AI capabilities.
In September last year, over 4,000 people attended the Creative Convergence Forum CCF at Gyeongnam Information University, titled "The Future of Design through AI." Provided by Gyeongnam Information University
The university launched the 'AIx Master' nano degree program and began its full-scale operation starting from the first semester of the 2025 academic year.
The 'AIx Master' nano degree is an integrated curriculum designed to equip students with AI competencies in response to the recent advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, including ChatGPT. 'AIx' is a term that represents the convergence of AI with various academic fields (X), emphasizing the importance of integration and innovation in the era of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
This concept reflects a society where AI technologies are utilized across all industries as a combined system.
Specifically, the curriculum is divided into liberal arts and major courses. The liberal arts track focuses on AI literacy (basic competency), offering subjects such as 'Text-based AI Fundamentals' and 'Image & Video-based AI Fundamentals.' After completing the liberal arts courses, students can take 'Advanced AI Skills Education,' which integrates AI with their respective majors, allowing them to learn AI technologies relevant to their field of study.
This program operates as a customized curriculum that combines AI technologies with each major, and it has already attracted significant interest, with over 300 students enrolling in the very first semester.
President Kim Taesang stated, "Through the AIx Master nano degree program, we will continue to provide practical and innovative education so that students can prepare for the future society," adding, "The university plans to make focused investments in AI-related education and system implementation."
Kyungnam College of Information & Technology has already been systematically preparing for integration with various majors by holding AI-related teaching method seminars for faculty and staff since last year.
Through this integrated curriculum, the university supports AI in becoming a core technology linked to majors, rather than merely a learning aid, and expects to nurture customized talent who can settle in the local community.
