Uijeongbu City Resource Recovery Facility, Dioxin Measurement Results Compliant

The measurement was conducted by the Korea Testing Laboratory, a comprehensive testing and certification agency under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy, and local residents including the chairman of the resource recovery facility resident support council observed the process to enhance transparency.

The measurement results showed that the dioxin concentrations of resource recovery facility Units 1 and 2 were 0.001 ng-TEQ/S㎥ each. This is significantly lower than the legal emission allowance standard of 0.1 ng-TEQ/S㎥, proving that the resource recovery facility is being safely operated through thorough environmental management.

Furthermore, the environmental impact survey conducted on the resource recovery facility showed that all items including air quality, water quality, noise and vibration, and odor met environmental standards and emission allowance criteria.

The city applies continuous equipment inspections and optimal operation methods to minimize air pollutant emissions. In addition, exhaust gases are monitored in real time, and the facility is thoroughly managed through regular environmental inspections.

Going forward, the city plans to regularly announce dioxin measurement results based on the principle of transparent disclosure of environmental information so that citizens can trust them. The city also intends to continuously communicate with residents and strive for eco-friendly facility operation.

Han In-ho, head of the Resource Circulation Division, said, “We will continuously inspect and manage the resource recovery facility to ensure its safe operation,” adding, “We will continue to implement thorough monitoring and environmental protection measures to provide citizens with a pleasant living environment.”
