Siheung-si Implements 'Job Bank System' to Alleviate Employment Difficulties for Small Business Owners

The 'Job Bank System,' which the city has been operating since 2020, is a local government-specialized program that provides hiring incentives to simultaneously address the manpower shortage of small business owners and the employment difficulties of job seekers.

The support amount is 2 million KRW per newly hired person per company, with subsidies provided for up to two people. Until last year, the condition was maintaining employment for more than 40 hours per week and over six months, but from this year, the support target has been expanded to include part-time workers working more than 10 hours per week and foreign workers. The support scale, which was 100 people last year, has also doubled to 200 people this year.

A city official explained, "Considering the characteristics of small business owners who employ many part-time workers, we have expanded the support targets and the number of people. This will not only resolve the manpower shortage of small business owners but also increase the effect of job creation."

Previously, in the last year, the city supported hiring incentives for 123 small business companies through this project, achieving the hiring of 155 job seekers.

The submission documents, which were 17 types over 3 times, have been simplified to 11 types over 2 times starting this year. Along with this, subsidies are retroactively paid for personnel hired before document submission, and the same support is provided when hiring replacement workers due to employees' childcare or maternity leave, in addition to new hires.

For more details, inquiries can be made to the Siheung City Hall Job Coordination Division or the Siheung Industrial Promotion Agency.

Park Geon-ho, head of the Siheung City Job Coordination Division, said, "Through this project, we will promote the city's economic growth and help small business owners gain competitiveness."
