Lim Jae-taek, a star CEO in the securities industry, has published his life management book titled Success, Don’t Dream, Steal. Lim, who achieved the 10x (Tenbase) myth at Hanyang Securities, is set to take on a new challenge as the CEO of Daol Investment & Securities starting next month.
According to Hanyang Securities on the 11th, Lim emphasizes in his book that “In both life and management, a strategy just one inch ahead determines the outcome.” Lim entered the securities industry in 1987 by joining Ssangyong Investment & Securities (now Shinhan Investment Corp.), later served as CEO of IM Investment & Securities, and was appointed CEO of Hanyang Securities in 2018.
Reflecting on his intense experiences and moments of crisis such as mergers and acquisitions (M&A), he states that management is not merely a numbers game but a matter of people and philosophy. Furthermore, through the insights and lessons gained in this process, he offers practical directions applicable not only to companies but also to individuals’ lives. Unlike difficult management textbooks or introductory success studies, the book is characterized by an easy and clear writing style that anyone can comfortably read.
The unique chapter structure, organized around the four seasons?spring, summer, autumn, and winter?is also notable. By likening the flow of life to the four seasons, he delivers valuable life messages at each stage. The target readership is not limited to specific professions or age groups; it is aimed at anyone who wants to take charge of their life and management.
Lim introduced the book by saying, “There were countless moments of crisis, but with a firm belief that this was the path I had to walk, I quietly overcame them and was able to reach the top as a CEO. This book was written to share the secret of overcoming life’s ups and downs and reaching the summit.” He added, “When you need a change in life or are deeply contemplating where your life is headed, I recommend embarking on this journey with this book. It will surely become a reliable companion.”
