GS Retail's convenience store GS25 announced on the 11th that it has opened the first-ever convenience store-pharmacy shop-in-shop in Vietnam in collaboration with Dongwha Pharmaceutical's Vietnamese pharmacy chain, Trung Son Pharma.

Earlier, GS25 Vietnam and Trung Son Pharma signed a strategic business agreement (MOU) in January for "joint development and sales cooperation of convenience store and pharmacy distribution chains." Both companies explained that they believed creating a total lifestyle platform offering convenience store and pharmacy services in one space would generate significant synergy effects.
Through this business agreement, the two companies plan to collaborate on ▲joint development and expansion of shop-in-shop stores ▲strengthening brand awareness through marketing cooperation ▲providing health consulting services by professional pharmacists ▲expanding portfolios of pharmaceuticals, health supplements, and beauty products.
The first result of this collaboration is the 'GS25 Virgin - Go Cong Branch,' which opened yesterday in Go Cong City, Kien Giang Province, Vietnam. The store covers a total area of 294㎡ (approximately 89 pyeong), with GS25 and Trung Son Pharma jointly operating the first floor and a tasting space for customers on the second floor. The store features sections for ready meals, refrigerated and frozen foods, beverages, and alcoholic drinks, with four pharmacists on site selling over 1,500 types of pharmaceuticals and 600 types of health supplements.

=The two companies plan to open more than 10 additional shop-in-shop stores mainly in major urban areas this year. Choi Geum-seong, head of GS25 Vietnam, said, "This collaboration will be an important stepping stone for GS25 to grow beyond a simple retail store into a comprehensive lifestyle platform in Vietnam," adding, "We will solidify our position as the 'No.1 convenience store in Vietnam' through unparalleled product strength and service innovation."
Meanwhile, GS25, which entered Vietnam in January 2018, operates over 350 stores locally and holds the number one spot in store count in southern Vietnam, including Ho Chi Minh City.
