Baemin Expands Reusable Container Service Areas Within Seoul

Baemin Expands Reusable Container Delivery Service in Seoul
From 15 to 20 Districts

Baedal Minjok is expanding the areas using reusable containers to promote an eco-friendly delivery culture.

Woowa Brothers, the operator of Baemin, announced on the 11th that they will expand the reusable container delivery service areas from the existing 15 districts including Gangnam-gu and Songpa-gu to a total of 20 districts by adding Dongdaemun-gu, Seongbuk-gu, Gangdong-gu, Eunpyeong-gu, and Jungnang-gu.

The "Reusable Delivery Container Service" is one of Baemin's representative eco-friendly initiatives started to spread an environmentally friendly delivery culture. This service operates by customers selecting reusable containers on the Baemin app when ordering delivery, and after the meal, applying for container return via a QR code, after which the service operator cleans and collects the containers.

Baemin Expands Reusable Container Service Areas Within Seoul

Starting in 2022 in Gangnam-gu, Seoul, the reusable delivery container service has been operating in 15 districts. From the 10th, the service area expanded to Dongdaemun-gu and Seongbuk-gu, and from the 1st of next month, it will also be available in Gangdong-gu, Eunpyeong-gu, and Jungnang-gu. Using reusable containers is not only environmentally friendly but also allows business owners to provide food in hygienic and safe stainless steel containers, and customers can reduce unnecessary packaging waste.

To commemorate the expansion of reusable container areas, Baemin is running a promotion. From the 10th to the 24th, customers in newly opened areas who order more than 15,000 KRW at stores using reusable containers will receive a 10,000 KRW coupon that can be used immediately.

Along with expanding the reusable container service areas, Baemin is collaborating with local governments to build eco-friendly solutions to promote the use of reusable containers. Last November, Baemin signed a business agreement with Cheonan City for the "Establishment of a Hub-type Smart City Project," and plans to build a smart reusable container cleaning center equipped with AI inspection systems. Once the smart cleaning center is introduced, it is expected to establish a management system that delivers and collects reusable containers along optimal routes.

Kim Jung-hyun, Head of Value Management at Woowa Brothers, said, "Baedal Minjok is conducting various promotions such as exclusive coupons for reusable containers to promote their distribution and use," adding, "We will lead an eco-friendly delivery culture through cooperation with stakeholders and partners."
