Support for Indie Musicians, Short Film Directors, and Musical Creators to Be Strengthened
On the 11th, CJ Cultural Foundation announced that it is holding a contest to support indie musicians, short film directors, and musical creators in underrepresented areas of popular culture.
CJ Cultural Foundation is conducting creator-tailored support projects to help young creators in each field grow and enter the market through ▲Indie Musician Support Project 'TUNE UP' ▲New Short Film Director Support Project 'STORY UP' ▲Musical Creator Support Project 'STAGE UP'. This year, support for selected creators and works will be strengthened, and benefits for overseas expansion will be expanded.
TUNE UP supports indie musicians with potential in various genres to enter domestic and international markets. Any musician who has original popular music compositions and can be active in Korea can apply. Applicants will be accepted until the 3rd of next month, and up to six teams will be selected. TUNE UP is a popular program that recorded the highest competition rate ever last year with 805 teams applying, a ratio of 134:1. Selected musicians will receive up to 25 million KRW in production costs for two albums over two years and opportunities to appear on YouTube’s ‘Ajit Live’. Additionally, global tour support and overseas performance opportunities such as KCON will be provided to support overseas expansion.
STORY UP provides up to 12 future film directors with scenario planning and development grants and mentoring to demonstrate their capabilities, and among them, up to six will be finally selected to receive 20 million KRW in production support and full support for the entire short film production process, from production to submission to domestic and international film festivals. Applications are open until the 17th, and applicants must submit a portfolio of previous works. This year, one-on-one mentoring by established directors will be strengthened to improve the completeness of the works.
STAGE UP discovers talented musical creators and systematically supports market entry stages by providing creation support funds, work planning and development workshops, internal readings, expert-tailored consulting, dedicated PD matching, contracts with production companies, and follow-up support funds for overseas expansion. Applications are open until the 24th, and teams composed of writers and composers can apply regardless of experience. Workshops are held to facilitate business matching with production companies, and the development process is enhanced by expanding expert advice. An additional creator incentive of 10 million KRW will be provided for overseas expansion.
