"An Unforgettable Experience, Grateful to Samsung"
Samsung Electronics' Korean-American star designer and corporate marketing strategist, Vice President Lee Ji-byeol, has recently resigned.
According to business circles on the 11th, Vice President Lee stepped down from her position as an executive in charge of the Global Brand Center at Samsung Electronics' Device Experience (DX) Division Global Marketing Office earlier this month and returned to New York, USA. This comes 2 years and 6 months after joining Samsung Electronics in August 2022.
Vice President Lee immigrated to Brazil during her childhood and majored in Communication Design at Parsons School of Design in New York, USA, a prestigious design school. In 2002, she gained fame for the 'Bubble Project,' where she attached speech bubbles with messages different from the original intent on street billboards in New York, delivering entirely different messages.
In 2008, she joined Google as a Creative Director and led the early promotion of Chrome. In 2011, she moved to Facebook as a Creative Strategist, overseeing corporate-wide marketing. That same year, she was selected as one of the '50 Most Influential Designers in the USA' by the American business magazine Fast Company.

Since being scouted and joining Samsung Electronics, Vice President Lee was responsible for global content strategy for over 100 countries where Samsung operates, serving as the head of global content for the online store 'Samsung.com.' She also planned and managed Samsung Electronics' overall social media marketing and undertook the task of streamlining hundreds of social media pages worldwide.
However, the reason for her resignation from Samsung Electronics has not been disclosed. On her social media, Vice President Lee stated, "After spending two and a half years in Samsung Global Marketing, it is time to say goodbye," adding, "Working for a company with an amazing history rooted in Korean heritage and culture was an unforgettable personal experience."
She continued, "I am grateful to Samsung for giving me a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity," and explained, "I will return to New York to work on personal projects and seek the next opportunity."
